Each note was individually re-tuned before recording, sessions run late at night for the quietest possible environment. Multi-velocity releases, per-key sympathetic resonance when the sustain pedal is held, and separate damper and action noise layers complete the picture. Nearly 5,000 samples, every attack hand-trimmed, every file hand-denoised in iZotope RX.

AMBIENCE

Reverie has no baked-in room sound — a deliberate choice. Fixed ambient mics lock you into one space forever, and reverb tails in release samples behave unnaturally under manipulation. Instead, custom impulse responses were recorded specifically for this library: a studio tracking room, a live room, and the historic Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta, GA — a venue with nearly 25 years of personal history. Custom neutral options deliver large and small room reverb without tonal coloration. Every velocity layer sits in exactly the same space — nothing shifts unpredictably under your dynamics.

TOTAL CONTROL

Three phase-aligned mic positions — ribbon pair at the player position, ribbons at the case edge, condensers over the bridges — mixable freely without phase issues. EQ on each mic pair and on the blended signal. And uniquely: independent two-band parametric EQ and volume adjustment on every one of the 88 keys individually.

Reverie was designed by a working performer, and tested where it counts — on stage. RAM usage sits at approximately 700MB, and the library runs reliably on modest hardware: tested extensively on M1 and M2 MacBook Air with 8GB RAM at 64-sample buffer, for hours at a time alongside other instruments. Custom velocity curves optimized for both weighted and semi-weighted controllers, with user presets for fine-tuning to your specific keyboard. And for something completely different: Juiced, a vintage 80s LA pop variation that transforms the character of the instrument entirely — from concert grand to studio classic in one switch.
